Creating Your Own Crypto Hardware Wallet with Raspberry Pi Zero | PiTrezor

Hey guys uh this is hifty um so today we're gonna be building a uh pie treasure so it's a diy hardware wallet so i've seen a lot of comments of you guys just really interested in crypto mining so in terms of like crypto mining theFirst thing that you want to do is like secure your funds so this is one way of securing your funds so uh basically just building out your own hardware wallet now you can also buy the trezor directly or even the ledger but anyone who's um you know enthusiasts in terms of like diyThis would be a good option for that so in terms of what you're gonna need you're gonna need a raspberry pi zero right here so this is a raspberry pi zero and also you're gonna need a uh a screen with a button so this is a 3.5 inchScreen for the raspberry pi zero i'll definitely put the links down below there's many screens that you can use so this is just one of the options that you can use for the pie trezor hardware wallet build and i'll put them down in the links below and what you're going to need asWell is a screwdriver right and also a raspberry pi k zero so we're going to go ahead and build this out right now so i'm going to put the case in so this one is the base and we're going to put the top in just like so actually yep should be goodNow you're gonna need these screws all right totally forgot as well you're gonna need to put the washers first like that so yeah these uh raspberry pi zero do come with washers so just a it's basically like a spacer so just put them in there um just for the sake of it soOh shoot okay like that once you've got that lined up you can just put the rest of the case like so okay like that and then once you have that going you can start putting in the bolts okay screw it in okay lcd screen right there there's a uhSorry i can't get it to focus but yeah there's that header is right there all you want to do is just plug it in so just plug and play right okay push it down yep there you go now you've got a pie treasure so we're going to go ahead andSwitch over to the computer and we're going to go ahead and flash the um the pie trezor image file onto this sd card and then we're going to do a little bit of configuration so i'll see you guys at the uh screen so we are now here at thePietrazzer.com so this is gonna be the guy that we are going to be following um so the first thing that you're gonna have to do is you're gonna have to download the pie trezor image right here and then you're gonna select pi zero okay nowIn terms of the type of sd cards that you you want to get you can go for the eight gigs sd cards or maybe even 32 gigs it doesn't really need that much space so eight gigabytes will be more than enough um okay so we're going to go ahead and openUp the uh file right now so we can extract the image file in order for us to um flash that onto our sd card okay once you have that extracted okay 100 the next thing that you're going to need is going to be the bellina eater etcher sorrySo just search it up on google so right here this is a flasher for any sort of uh type of um image file specifically for the sd cards so right now we are going to be downloading this software so just head down here downloads installer okay click on thatAnd it should save the file so we're just gonna save that and then we're gonna go ahead and open it up once that's done that should be really quick now in terms of like uh the hardware wallet this is really important in terms of uh securing your funds because umWith exchanges what happens is that if the exchanges uh gets hacked or even you know closes down um they your money is pretty much gone so you gotta secure it onto a hardware wallet um so like the saying goes like not your keys not your cryptoSo it's very important that we have to start out at the hardware wallet first before doing any sort of mining because this is a very secure way to secure funds so we're just going to go and wait that until it installs okay so now once you have it installed itShould be right on your desktop and then we're just gonna go ahead and flash the image file to our sd card so open up uh belena etcher and then we're gonna go ahead and flash the file so here we are okay so we're just gonna click flash from fileAnd then we're just gonna select our image the pie trezor that we've downloaded earlier now we're gonna go ahead and select the target so i'm currently using a 64 gigabyte now this is not necessary to be honest like this is a little bit too muchBut this is the only sd card that i have right now so uh we're just gonna have to deal with that so it's gonna start uh flashing hopefully this is quick um and then uh once this finishes up we're gonna go ahead and put it into our uh raspberry piSorry the raspberry pi zero trezor and then we're gonna go ahead and uh load up a new wallet in order for us to store our funds so that can either be bitcoin um ethereum and they they do carry multiple types of um uh crypto coins so okay soOnce this is finishing up uh there is one more extra step that you have to do in order to get the sd uh in order to get the lcd working once you have that plugged in re-plugged in after flashing the image file uh you're going to go ahead and head over to theExplorer and then so right here it's going to show you two options it's going to be the boot and right here just going to click on boot and then you're going to see a config file called pi trezor so you're going to get an go ahead and open that upSo right here uh here's the list of lcds that you can use uh there's multiple types of lcds as you can see here you can go with this one which is an i2c or you can go with this one which is what i'm using which is using the spi interfaceUm so right here you can just select it depending on which lcds you want to use so in this case i will be using this one right here and that's going to be option five so we're gonna go ahead and change the three to fiveAnd so for the buttons in order for the buttons to work we're gonna have to change this one as well the gpio uh pins so this one right here is gonna be 21 and the other one is going to be 16. once you have that uh finished you're just gonna go aheadAnd click save okay and then that's it uh the only thing that we have to do now is just re-plug it into our hardware wallet that we've made earlier and then that should be uh we should be able to set that up on our computer all right guys so once you've got thePie trouser image flashed onto this sd card right here right over here okay we're just going to go ahead and plug it into the side of the pi transistor hardware that we've made so right here just plug it in there okay once you've got that plugged inYou're gonna go ahead and uh connect your compute you're gonna go ahead and connect your uh raspberry pi uh trouser right here that we've made to a micro usb cable right and you're gonna connect it to the computer and you're gonna plug it into the second port right here so plug that inRight and then you're just gonna wait for a couple of minutes or seconds until it shows up the pie trouser software oh it's actually backwards so right here as you can see that is our pie trusser hardware wallet so what you're going to do is just head over to that website trezor.io startSo you can go ahead and proceed with the instructions so we're going to go ahead and do that right now on the computer screen once you've got the uh pie trezor plugged into your computer you're going to head over to sweet dot treasure dot io webSo here this is where we're going to be setting up our pie trezor so just click on find trezor and here it will show trezer so click connect and then that should be able to communicate with the pie trezor so here we're going to go ahead and setUp our trezor just like a normal regular trouser hardware wallet and we're just going to skip the update for now so create a new wallet and then here you're going to go ahead and click on standard seed backup and then you're going to go ahead and click on standard seed backupAnd then it's going to ask you to confirm on your pie treasure he's going to click on the key one so right here that's the first key in order to click confirm okay and then show here that's gonna require a backup so for this one you'reGonna need a pen and paper handy in order to back this up because uh in case the pie trezor doesn't want to work anymore you can still recover your funds through trezor now you can also write it down on a metal sheet uh you can etch it on thereSo that's another secure way just in case there's a fire and the paper burns you still have a backup of that metal etch seed phrase so here we're going to go ahead and click on create backup just click all these options these are just the recommendations that they give youThen you're going to click on begin backup and it's going to ask you and it's going to ask you to confirm again on the pie trouser so here it will show you the seed phrase so that's just one example eight right so you're just going to go through thatUntil you get to the 24 so okay so we're just going to keep going through that 16 17 18 19 20. okay okay so this is going to be our 24th word so it's going to go ahead and ask you to just verify that so you're going to haveTo go through the lists of the words again and then just verify that all the words are correct just to make sure that everything is is going right so so we're just gonna go through that again so while you're going through it like this just make sure that you confirm it on yourUh paper that you've written down that it's the right word and then you're gonna click on finish which is using the key one okay so here we are once we've completed that the pin you're going to need to put a pin on it if you want but for now i'm just goingTo keep skip this since this is a tutorial so i'm just going to go ahead and skip that for now okay so once you've got that going you can pretty much back up in terms of your funds so these are the type of funds that you can uhBack up onto your treasure uh sorry the pie trezor uh so right here we're gonna click on bitcoin complete setup and then you can also put a name on the uh trouser so you can call it pie treasure okay edit name and then here on your pie chart is goingTo show you that you need to confirm it so just press key one in order to confirm that and it will show right there that it's named pie treasure now we're gonna go ahead and click right there that it's named pie trezor now we're going to go ahead and click on access suiteSo here it will list your portfolio and this is where you can store all of your funds okay so right here if you want to just transfer in like uh bitcoin uh you can definitely do that here so just click on the bitcoin uh logo here and then you can select receiveAnd then you're just you can get the address right there and then it will actually um show on the address as well on the pie treasure to confirm it so just confirm that it's as well on the pie trezor to confirm it so just confirm thatAnd then from there you can start uh transferring funds to this uh pie treasure hardware wallet so again guys uh this is the uh tutorial on how to diy a hardware wallet i hope that uh you guys find this valuable and have a good day cheers and stay safe out there bye
