Do NOT Make These TSA Line Mistakes (11 Must-Know Airport Security Tips)
Navigating through airport security can often be a stressful experience. Long lines, strict regulations, and the fear of making a mistake can make this part of your travel journey particularly unpleasant. However, with the right knowledge and preparation, you can breeze through the TSA line with ease. In this article, we will share 11 must-know tips to help you avoid common airport security mistakes and ensure a smooth and hassle-free travel experience.
1. Prepare Your Wallet for Security Screening
One important aspect of getting through the TSA line smoothly is properly securing your wallet. Your wallet contains valuable items and personal information that you don’t want to misplace or expose during the screening process. Here are some wallet security tips to keep in mind:
Keep Your Wallet Organized
Prior to arriving at the airport, take a few minutes to go through your wallet and remove any unnecessary items. Only carry the essentials such as your ID, boarding pass, credit/debit cards, and cash. This will not only make the security screening faster but also reduce the risk of misplacing important documents.
Use a Travel Wallet
Consider using a travel wallet specifically designed for airport security purposes. These wallets are typically slim and have compartments to hold your ID, boarding pass, and other necessary documents. They often come with RFID-blocking technology to protect your cards from electronic theft.
Secure Your Wallet Before Entering the TSA Line
Prior to entering the TSA line, make sure your wallet is securely closed. This will prevent any items from unexpectedly falling out or getting lost during the screening process. If your wallet has a zipper or a clasp, ensure it is fastened properly.

TSA are always looking to throw their weight around. Stupid rules for stupid people to enforce.
2:45 They actually aren’t allowed to that in the US. Courts have ruled that going through phones are considered to be a search and is protected under the 4th Amendment. However, since his experience did not take place in the US, I am not familiar with what the laws are there.
I had to laugh when you were describing “being felt up”, my husband also has to go through manual and I also grab all his items. He was told once, “ if someone asks for a Pat Down, they probably don’t need on”, so true.

Are you supposed to take your liquids bag out and put in bin?
I have not done this.
New Subscribers, thank you for the important reminders at the airport , before my flight🌹

Can you tell me what year was that because I used my camera on my phone? I'd record every time I go to the airport and nothing happens and once I go through TSA checkpoint.
When I pick up my stuff.
Can I put my shoes on? I turn on the phone and I just keep on walking. They don't stop me I'm allowed to record.
Is your jurisdiction to record
If they told you no you could Sue them because it's a public place not a private place.
You can't turn off your phone when you're online to go through TSA.
Once you go to TSA in your graph is stuff. You could turn on your phone again and start recording they cannot tell you.
Nothing.
I’ve had my toothpaste taken in Cancun ❤
How do you pack chocolate bars or maple syrup (in small bottles) in checked bag without the risk of getting inspected? I have packed my chocolate bars and little bottles of maple syrup for gifts in individual paper and bubble wraps and put them in small cardboard for my incoming international flight. Do you think they will open my checked luggage? Thanks
Are electronic cigarettes and vaping devices please answer soon I have a trip at the end of the month and that's a question I'm trying to figure out especially on international flight!
Dude, get a life instead of making videos about common sense.
TSA sucks no matter what you do they find a way to hassle you
If you do end up in a full body scanner unsuspectly (kinda a tube you stand in while a machine turn around you) and you have anyting in your pockets (even papers) they will ask you to raise your hands, take whatever you have in your pockets, paper and all and keep them in your raised hands. otherwise it will scan and you will most likely have additionnal checks.
I heard the scanner is 500 times stronger than a x ray scanner. True?
In Prague recently I took a 1 litre bottle of water through security – they now scan the water, it was wild.
Only the US makes you take off your shoes, it's amazing they still do this in 2024.
The easy way to not have your checked bag searched or stolen from, is not have a checked bag :DDD
Hand luggage only guys, the only way to travel in almost all scenarios (apart from maybe sports requiring large bags)
The problem with fanny packs is they're a HUGE target for theft, thieves know you likely have your passport, phone, wallet, cash and other valuable items in there. I've seen these physically grabbed from people all over the world.
Concealed money belts under clothing are better IMHO.
The best way not to wait around the luggage carousel is to only travel hand luggage only 😀
I did this for multiple years at a time through hot and cold climates – it's very doable and requires very little sacrifice but is joyful being so mobile and can save a fortune on extra flight costs and no waiting for luggage.
If you are over 75 (past your 75th birthday) you do not need to remove your shoes for TSA. Make sure it is marked on your boarding pass. The last time I went though TSA the agent asked me to take off my shoes, until I showed him my boarding pass.
I’m going on my first flight soon and like I get overwhelmed so fucking easily like if I don’t know what to do my mind and body just gives up I’m gonna be with my mom but she has a machine in her stomach so she’s gonna be not in my direct eye view.. I’m like so nervous to go through security can someone just but the rules or whatever in the SIMPLEST way
First mistake: a travel to the US.
The shoething in USA always throws me off. As an European I'm never prepared for that.
All great tips. My brother or I are taking our Dad to Thailand for some dental work this summer since it's much cheaper there and just as good as USA. So your tips will come in handy to minimize the hassle.
The reason why TSA gets a lot of shit is because passengers don’t know why we enforce these rules. We can’t tell you why because we don’t want to send people in a panic. Look up why TSA does the things they do and you’ll see why they’re your biggest friends at the airport.
Always have your towel with you, eh? 🤣
