I like the ideas they're trying to get into the game but it's ruined it for me I can't see anything when in close combat through my scopes especially when using acogs
Im very mixed with the update. I like 70% of the changes but the suppression and ability to aim at an enemy who misses their first shots on you is beyond frustrating. Granted you could say thats what the intended purpose of the changes so you have to think more about positioning. However, theres just been too many matches of guys proning in a bush and my teams trying to advance, get shot at (but enemy misses) and its terribly difficult to aim and put accurate fire on said bush wookie. I think the suppressin you get from vehicles and higher caliber MGs is appropriate but for small arms its just too much. I've had to slow my pacing a shit ton… but at the end of the day it just makes very frustrating gameplay for me personally. To me, it feels like its just kind of rewarding players with not the best aim, and punishes the guys that were able to react quickly and put shots on target. The movement changes are alright, a bit slower than I would like but I'm happy to see the Q/E spam gone, as well as some of the ridiculous parkour we were able to do lol. The PIP scopes are a great change, causes you to have to think what loadout you want and positioning depending on environment.
"This update is not for everyone" yeah that's right it's for players who suck. I just hope that I'll get my money back.
Working together gaining fire superiority and flanking have become really important in ico i love it
I've been enjoying the update. It is vastly different then what you expect from other shooters, but in terms of the goals OWI set out to accomplish, their commander's intent as it were. I think they nailed it. I used to watch a lot of combat footage during the GWOT era and man does this update really replicate how people, even trained soldiers, behave in real firefights. It's great watching people take fire and immediately return blind fire at where they think it is coming from, rather than just quick-scope headshotting the shooter after having been sprinting the whole time. The suppression also really puts the fear of god in you when you and your fireteam are getting pinned down by a DShK 100 meters away.
You can’t mention realism and karmakut in the same sentence. Guy is just a milsim airsoft chad that thinks he knows how actual combat is because he played squad
3:31 I’d think a blurred tunnel vision like effect would work better. The more suppression the player experiences, tunnel vision gets increasingly worse at all relative segments. With various degrees of severities and a decay effect that’ll slowly restore vision overtime. (Center of vision is less affected than peripheral. But can center still reach maximum threshold for a short but brief moment.)
Post Scriptum players when pinned by an MG:
I'm legally blind
shit vid tittle
IMO, teamwork was always in the game, and OWI added a massive amount of tedium to the inf play. Very frustrating that they turned a solid FPS into a war movie panic attack
I wasn't the biggest fan of squad gameplay before, but seeing so much from the new update and testing a few things in a firing range I'm uninstalling the game again. The only part that sucks is when someone pays money for a product they somewhat enjoy and then the devs can just update the game radically to the point where it is unenjoyable for some of those people and just keep their money.
The new infentry combat overhall is great, a step towards being the sucessor to Project Reality.
Owi caved to all the review bombers. Took a huge step back with patch 6,1 these safe spacers are cancer to this game.
You decadent lint licker! (Okay, uncreative obscenity aside) I am not a huge Squad player, so my opinion is kinda null, but overall it's where I stand on some of the other tactical FPS out there right now. I like the idea of the changes, and I love the new suppression mechanics. I always thought Hell Let Loose got the suppression just about right with the way they did it. Cinematic and fun, but still something you could work through with experience, but when you're new it's terrifying.
Generally more of a HLL player than a Squad player, so I'm mostly just here as an algorithm gods sacrifice, but I wish with Tarkov's Arena mode coming soon that the game could implement some of their ideas into their base game to bring home the "squad on squad violence" feel that Squad has tried to push towards.
After watching this video, I have not gotten much smarter on the subject than I was before.
I give this review 3/5 points.
Squad is not Call of duty
Once again you are a class act, Pairs. It’s refreshing to see a bit of nuance on the internet.
If shooting in your first-person shooter makes players angry and frustrated, it's not a very good first-person shooter. HOWEVER it might be a good military simulation I guess. It's good that people appreciate the update. Personally it feels like they crippled a core part of the gameplay a bit too much. In this game trained soldiers shoot like old people f***
Literally 0% chance that the increase in players is due to the controversy. It is due to the fact that almost everyone outside of the tiny minority who were star lone wolf players before the update loves the update and the game is way more fun.
I think that developers went in wrong direction. New squad unfortunately have nothing to do with reality. There are some changes which I like like new explosion animation but there is also some of them which i hate. New PIP is to small specially when comparing to reality. Scope magnification should be at least 10 times. Putting scope to an eye should be much faster. In real life it takes no more that a second and I do not consider my self as a good shooter. Scope view shouldn't be disturbed when moving with the gun from side to side because normal when U look through the scope face is resting on rifle stock. That's why Your eye is not moving from the scope view. The same with the pistol… It never shouldn't be developed as a simulation of pistol movement from sign of sight . It should be always straight to the opponent. With new squad physics we have situation when player sprays whole magazine in front of the enemy and the enemy is not hit … this is far from realistic especially when in normal life we can always aim down the barrel at close close distances -this feature is missing.
Also it is not realistic that when You're lying down … normally Your scope is not moving and it is even when You don't have bipod because You are resting your rifle on magazine. Those changes should be removed when developers wanted to call this game as a simulation but from my point of view developers wanted to give more chances to new players – so we should read it like more accessible to noobs which means more players = more money. Unfortunately this destroyed realism in this game and that's why players are angry.. because this is not the game they paid for.
according to the new weapon handling update I would like to propose a new name for this game " retired parkinson squad " would be quite accurate
well You have right here … this update is not for everyone … this update is made for new squad players … more squad players means more money … so this update is only update for developers it means that developers don't care about players who already bought the game … if there wasn't there would be option to play squad 5.0 or choose play squad 6.0 and I wonder how full would be those servers with squad 6.0 version … ?
There is a balance between shift + w tarkov players wanting to mag dump from 100 yards away, and having weapon handling on par with a malnourished child soldier.
Edit: If airsofters were put in camps where they belong, we wouldn't have this issue.
I personally think it's great, much better than it was as i'm forced to play smart and patiently. But they should get back 10% from every new effect, less supression, less weapon sway, less sight misaligning
The community isn't really divided. Veterans are complaining because they got used to the old system, and hate the fact that they have to re-learn how to play the game.
Idk about you guys but I’ve been having an absolute blast with this game.
Honestly necer played squad , i'm a bit of an fps/tactical shooter player but not massively.
Some of these points will make me have a go, and mabe puck this game up. Seems like a fresh approach to a stagnant game pool!
I was sort of on the fence about the changes. But after playing for a bit I do think it was a good move. I had a situation where I ended up in a garage and across the street was a machine gun on the second floor. He was firing at my team mates trying to take a point. I was out of Stam. I was worried if I moved he would see me and shoot me. But I knew he was shooting my Friendly's so I posted up and aimed at him. My Stam and weapon stability tool a solid 5-7 seconds to come back. But as soon as it did he saw me. He turned to me to shoot me and I squeezed off one round, headshot. It was the most cinematic thing I've ever experienced in a game, it was like a war movie. I've been addicted since then.
You're the first youtuber I've seen that acknowledges that the changes were purposeful. The aim-punch, the recoil, the blur…it was all done to the extent that it was, on purpose.
I just imagine OWI in trying to make Squad more like PR, screaming at each other "Can you kill someone without aiming down ironsights from 2 feet away? DID YOU JUST F**KING SAY YES?! NOOOOOO!!! MORE RECOIL!! MORE GUN SWAY!! EVERYTHING MUST BE SLOW, RELOADING A MAG MUST TAKE 40 MIN OR ELSE!! THIS AINT CALL OF DUTY ! If you dont ADS you wont kill whats less than a foot in front of you, if you DARE USE AUTO you wont hit ANYTHING unless you're ADS AND PRONE, THATS…WHATS REALISTIC!!!
People in game LOVE it.
People who aren’t playing HATE IT.
I bet they found a new game already, considering shooters that lean into gunplay and movement are a dime a dozen
I dont like this update, if u wanted an "hard" game i would go back to arma, squad was always the "play for fun" without having to concentrate much, now its too much, k personally quit playing it
I think some of the weapon handling punishment needs to be tuned back but I'm having way more fun overall.
For a while i was only booting up the game for galactic contention
I think it’s much better now and they achieved what they want, most fps are about who can’t shoot the enemy faster and in the head preferably for that quick kill, but the update makes gunfights take longer and you actually have to think about your shots when going for a kill, holding down your firing button and spraying won’t do anymore, you need patience and teamwork to win fights now more than before.
They should update graphics in this game not for gunplay.. coz graphics this game look like ps3.. garbage af
did they replace the A-10 with an F/A-18 or is that a specific faction thing?
also, what caused that absolutely massive explosion at 9:20
The sight misalignment is my biggest grudge I absolutely hate it. It shouldn’t take 3 seconds to get a clear sight picture, now if you walk around a corner and there’s some dude just camping all setup you’re fucked there’s zero chance for you
I really don’t think this is that complicated. The people who love the update won’t be bothered by marginal reductions in the intensity of the new mechanics. Reduce suppression blur by 15%. Reduce sway by 25%. Reduce low stamina sway penalty by 25%. Reduce sight misalignment by 25%. Keep the mechanics, just adjust the parameters. I like the update overall. Overall I think it’s more fun to play squad now as it’s more teamwork oriented. But it’s not fun to have a low skill ceiling in a hard core game like squad. It’s not fun to lose a one on one duel because of RNG, it just isn’t.
One thing I think would make a massive improvement AND bring the two sides together is to introduce a degree of predictability to weapon sway similar to how recoil in CSGO follows a pattern + some random deviation. In fact, why not do this to recoil as well? This is a huge part of what makes CS a fun competitive game. Squad could be a real trailblazer by implementing recoil and sway patterns. Make it per weapon too, like CS. So some people might be better with the AK or the L85 vs the M4 or AK12
Needs to be more slow paced more ICO pls just tweaked
