Creating an Offline DIY USB #Crypto Wallet: Step-by-Step Guide for 2022
How to Create Your Own Crypto Wallet Using a USB Stick
Hey everyone, it’s your boy KrebsyCrypto, and in today’s video, I’m going to show you how to turn a normal USB stick into a crypto wallet for offline purposes. You might be wondering why you would want to store your crypto on a USB and keep it offline. Well, instead of storing it on an exchange, you can store it on a USB and keep it portable and secure. This is especially useful for mining wallets, where you can mine coins and have them sent directly to your USB wallet address. In this tutorial, I’ll guide you through the process of setting up a USB wallet using the Coinomi app.
Step 1: Formatting the USB Stick
The first step is to plug in your USB stick and format it. Make sure there is no important data on the USB stick before formatting. Once you’ve plugged it in, go to your computer’s file explorer, right-click on the USB drive, and select the “Format” option. Choose the default formatting options and give your USB stick a name. This will prepare the USB stick for the wallet installation.
Step 2: Downloading and Installing Coinomi Wallet
In the description of the video, you’ll find a link to the Coinomi website. Click on the link and scroll down to find the download options. Since we’re using Windows, click on the download link for the Coinomi wallet for Windows. Once the download is complete, open the installer and follow the on-screen instructions to install the wallet on your USB stick. This may take some time depending on the size of your USB stick.
Step 3: Setting Up Your Wallet
After the installation is complete, launch the Coinomi wallet from your USB stick. You’ll be prompted to create a new wallet. Make sure to securely store your recovery phrase, as this will allow you to recover your wallet if needed. Once you’ve copied down the recovery phrase, click on “I have safely stored my recovery phrase” and proceed to the next step. Enter your recovery phrase in the correct order and confirm it. Set up a password for your wallet to encrypt your data. Remember to choose a strong password and keep it safe.
Step 4: Selecting Coins for Your Wallet
Once your wallet is set up, you’ll be presented with a list of available coins. Select the coins you want to store in your wallet. Choose coins that you mine or hold and click “Next” to proceed. Accept the legal disclaimer and your wallet will be ready to use.
Transferring Coins to Your USB Wallet
To transfer coins to your USB wallet, go to the specific coin’s wallet page in the Coinomi app. Click on the “Receive” button to get your wallet address. Copy the address and use it to receive coins from exchanges or other wallets. Remember to safely remove your USB stick from your computer after each use to prevent data corruption.

Some tips:
Use VeraCrypt for USB or folder encryption.
Use crypto steel or just a piece of metal plate for seed phrases(store seed phrases In a personalized encryption method and write it in two diffrent crypto steel).
Use Tail of a USB. It's a version of linux(open source) that is bootable(seperated from windows boot) (it's only usage is signature of payments to second wallet if you will), and also is better option than ledger or trezor(because there is no customer information to be worry about its leak)

Thsi method is not that good because the cache stays in the machine. You have to store the cache in the usb and create a mklink from the main cache folder to the cache in the usb.
