Complete Guide and Demonstration of Tangem Cryptocurrency Hardware Wallet
Introduction
Hey guys, Crypto Dad here again! Today, I’m going to show you how to use the Tangem cryptocurrency hardware wallet. The good people over at Tangem were nice enough to send me one of their wallets, so I’m going to do a quick unboxing, show you how to get it set up, and how to transfer crypto in and out of the wallet. This wallet is unique because it doesn’t require a backup phrase. Instead, it uses secondary cards as backups, ensuring the safety and security of your private key. Let’s dive in and see how this wallet works!
Unboxing and Setup
When you open the Tangem wallet, you’ll notice that it pushes out a part from the other side, which is a cool feature. Inside the box, you’ll find the wallet cards and some instructions. To get started, visit the Tangem website and download the app. Once you have the app installed, you can begin the setup process.
Initializing the Wallet
To initialize the wallet, you’ll need to scan the primary card using the app. Simply tap the card on the bottom of your phone, and it will be scanned easily. Accept all the prompts and then proceed to create your backup cards. Scan the backup cards one by one, and finalize the backup process by creating an access code or PIN. Make sure to re-enter the code for confirmation.
Funding the Wallet
Now that your wallet is set up, it’s time to fund it with some crypto. In this example, we’ll use bitcoin and ethereum. To transfer Bitcoin, copy the Bitcoin address from the Tangem app and paste it into your clipboard. Then, open your crypto exchange app, such as coinbase, and initiate a send transaction. Paste the Tangem wallet address and send the desired amount of Bitcoin. Wait for the transaction to confirm on the blockchain, and you’ll see the Bitcoin balance in your Tangem wallet.
For Ethereum, you can either copy the address or use the QR code feature. Share the Tangem wallet address with yourself via email or any other method. Open your crypto exchange app, select Ethereum, and paste the Tangem wallet address. Send the desired amount of Ethereum and authorize the transaction using your Tangem card. Once confirmed, the Ethereum balance will appear in your Tangem wallet.
Sending Crypto from the Wallet
To send crypto from your Tangem wallet back to an exchange or another wallet, you’ll need the receiving address. In this example, we’ll use Coinbase as the exchange. Copy the receiving address from your Coinbase account and paste it into the Tangem app. Enter the amount you want to send and authorize the transaction by tapping your Tangem card on the back of your phone. Once confirmed, the crypto will be sent to the designated address.
Managing Tokens
The Tangem wallet supports various tokens, not just Bitcoin and Ethereum. You can easily add tokens by scanning the card associated with that token. For example, to add xrp, scan the XRP card using the app. You can also manage different chains, such as Polygon, cardano, and more. Simply enable the desired network and save the changes. The Tangem wallet offers flexibility in managing multiple tokens.
Backup and Security
The Tangem wallet eliminates the need for a backup phrase by providing backup cards. These cards are like bearer bonds, so it’s crucial to keep them safe. Store them in a secure location, such as a safe deposit box or a trusted person’s house. Losing all three cards would result in losing access to your crypto. Consider keeping one card at home and another off-site for added security.

Haven't watched through the full video hopefully they have a cool NFT view section too to see the eth NFTS or others. I love the wallet though and just saw your latest video how they allow us to create our private keys! to store ourselves which is really really cool.
Hi great video, when you have mutable networks associated to a currency how do you decide which is the best one to choose
Thank you CD for another awesome video. Question; if the company goes under will the card work where you can access your crypto? Will the website work so that you can access your crypto?
very thorough. thnx
I thought no one cd access the card without your pin/access code. u said anyone wi the cards and app can take the crypto. pu need to clarify/correct this statement. thnx
does it matter what network you choose?
So I was ready to order The Tangem2 Wallet. First, the order is international. Delivery time is 5 to 20 days. 2nd, They charge a $5.99 International shipping charge. This was the kicker, the countries that do not pay an International charge include: Russia, Ukrain, Belarus and Iran. Does that mean they are produced or shipped from these countries. Very sketchy to say the least.
Hello with this Tangem can you buy xrp for a example from the app itself or you have to buy from a different crypto place and then transfer it over to Tangem thanks
What happens if the company go bankrupt

Just got the new Tangem wallet but there is no seal …. Should I send back?
Hello Crypto Dad, from a dad! Trying to pickup all this crypto stuff is good fun but challenging when older and even my very techie son does not do crypto. I love the Tangem wallet and thanks for your easy and basic video that helps me. Can you tell me, can you add extra tokens to the list on Tangem or are they all pre set by Tangem? If so how do we add? I struggle in this area. So I have just bought a new token SOIL on MEXC exchange but its very new and I have no idea how to move it to a hard wallet that supports it. I do not want to keep it on an exchange but can't even work out what network to use to send. Any thoughts. UK
What about HBAR on This wallet
How much is the transaction fee?
But they cant access it if they have the card but dont have your pass phrase? So if you lose your card, crypto is safe as they dont have the passphrase
How do you intergrate Tangem wallet into MetaMask like you can intergrate your Ledger Nano X ETH address into MetaMask.
How do you do that with the Tangem wallet?
this is a good video for when you have NO experience with these kind of things, really nice, THANK YOU
At 14:20 I mentioned that the cards were like bearer bonds and that anyone who found them could access your crypto. This is incorrect. After you have initialized your cards, no one can sync up the cards to their device with out the access code that you create. I found this out through research and more experience with the cards. I apologize for this statement. I had just unboxed these and did not realize that the access code prevented someone else from sinking up the cards to their device.
Can yo add additional cards to the same primary card?
Great information as usual. Thanks
Horrible!! After watching this and several other videos I decided to purchase Tangem. Placed order on November 14… An nothing!! Not shipped, not real customer support and no response on my email.
Hands down the best info i can found in youtube. Thank you
Question? 🙋♂️ what happens to your crypto if the company goes under and the APP is no longer available or working? Then what?
I see on the xumm wallet that you can set up your tangem. Can you record a tutorial as to how to do this?
Its impossible to withdraw crypto from tangem without the card present. Not sure why people think the security isnt as good… Your crypto is stored on the blockchain anyway.. the card lets u access it because the private keys and seed phrases are on the card itself.
You lose all three cards and ur crypto is gone forever. There is no retrieving.
In case back up cards lost or stolen, can I order the new ones and sync with the same wallet I have with balance?
The CryptoDad, but when the assets are on the wallet, they don't generate interest on the blockchain/crypto platfom … correct?
I had money in a Blockfi account and I was told I would lose it if I did not transfer it to a wallet. So I transferred my money out and all I have now is an email of the transaction. The email gave me a destination address and a transaction hash number in the currency of BTC. I purchased a Tangem wallet so I could transfer the money and get cash in the bank. How can I transfer my funds recorded in my email to my Tangem wallet? Can you help me??
Thank you for this video. I just received my Tangem wallet and your channel is the first place I go for instructional videos. Again, thank you and have a great holiday weekend!!
